Carnival is Back in Edmonton - CariWest 2025!

Every August, downtown Edmonton explodes into color, rhythm, and joy—and Cariwest 2025 like previous years before, did not disappoint! I had such a great time last year, I just had to come back. And just like I expected, the vibes were just as incredible, if not better.

From the moment the parade kicked off on August 9, the streets came alive with dancers in vibrant Carnival costumes. Everyone in the parade brought incredible energy. Smiles, nonstop dancing, and that unmistakable Soca music pulsed through downtown.

While the parade kept the Soca pumping, the vibe shifted when we got to Winston Churchill Square. To my surprise and pleasure, one of the DJs did an entire 30min set of Jamaican dancehall, and honestly—it was fire 🔥

Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel, classic party tunes... the crowd came to life. Normally more low-key, they started moving as soon as each track dropped. Definitely one of my fave parts of the day.

Cariwest 2025 reminded me why I love this festival so much. It’s not just the music or the costumes—it’s the energy, the culture, and the community it brings together. Photographing it is one of my absolute favorite thing.

If you haven’t been, trust me—it’s worth checking out. And if you have been... well, see you in 2026?
